Moving? Lets decorate!

01 Jun Moving? Lets decorate!

Where to start decorating your house.

Are you MOVING? FIRST! Start cleaning your old place even before you make an offer on another property. By starting this process you are one step ahead! Be strong and rid yourself of anything of your old stuff: wobbly furniture in the attic, faulty appliances in the garage, questionable accessories you received as gifts. This is the perfect time to start over.

How much to spend decorating your house? Budgeting

Take a look at your monthly inflows and outflows, as well as any funds you’ve set aside for rainy day projects, and see how much you realistically have to spend.

Even if money isn’t an issue, your budget should be the amount you’re happy to spend on your space without feeling guilty.

Different house decorating styles

Write down everything you’d like to do and buy. Be specific instead of listing “more storage and display space,” think about whether that means adding built-ins or buying a freestanding furniture. Don’t forget to include the practical stuff that needs to be fixed, upgraded and or purchased.

Ideas on how to decorate your house

Paint your walls.

If you live in a rented home or room , this might not be an option for you. However, if you’re able to, paint the walls in your home! This can be one of the quickest and many ways to freshen up the home as well as adding a bit of interest . Choose a colour that complements your personality and fits your space.

Try new furniture.

Furniture is the most important aspect of decorating. If you’re short on furniture or have been using the same pieces for many years, consider bringing some new furniture into your home.

Use decorative storage.

everyone has stuff that needs to go into storage! Instead of shoving it under a bed or in the back of a closet, try using decorative storage instead. Look for things that store things in their hollow centres.

Refurbish old furniture and accents.

If you don’t have enough money to buy new furniture for your home.  Give your current furniture a makeover. In a kitchen or bathroom, try painting the cabinets a new colour or staining them.
